Hang My Art was engaged to install a collection of large and high value artworks inside a newly completed modern residence in Newstead, Brisbane. The client had invested in several oversized pieces that were intended to become focal points throughout the home, requiring careful positioning and professional installation to match the clean architectural style of the space.
Modern homes with minimalistic interiors often rely heavily on statement artworks to bring scale, colour, and visual balance to the room. In this project the artworks were significantly larger than standard residential frames, with some pieces spanning wide feature walls and requiring precise centring to maintain the intended design symmetry.
Prior to installation the layout of each artwork was discussed with the client to determine the best visual placement relative to furniture, wall dimensions, and sight lines within the home. Because many of the walls were large open surfaces with minimal architectural interruption, achieving perfect alignment was critical to ensure the artworks complemented the space rather than appearing visually offset.
The artworks themselves were both large and valuable, meaning extra care was required during handling and mounting. Secure fixing methods were selected based on the wall structure to ensure each piece would remain safely supported while sitting perfectly level on the wall.
The goal of the installation was to create a clean gallery like presentation within the home while maintaining the relaxed feel of a residential living space. Each artwork needed to feel intentional and balanced within the room while also acting as a strong visual focal point.
Once installed, the artworks transformed the interior spaces, adding scale and personality to the modern architecture. The finished result delivered a refined and visually balanced display where each artwork sits perfectly aligned within the home’s contemporary design.
Post Project Execution
Execution of the installation began with measuring each wall and identifying the exact centreline where the artwork would be positioned. Large artworks require careful measurement before mounting because even small alignment errors can become obvious when pieces are installed on wide feature walls.
Reference lines were established to ensure the artworks would sit at the correct viewing height while remaining centred relative to surrounding architectural elements such as windows, cabinetry, and furniture layouts. This step ensured the final placement looked natural within each room.
Because several pieces were oversized and relatively heavy, secure mounting systems were selected to provide reliable structural support. The appropriate anchors and fixings were chosen based on the wall material to ensure each artwork remained safely installed without compromising the wall surface.
During installation the artworks were carefully lifted into position and temporarily aligned before final mounting. Professional levelling equipment was used to ensure each piece sat perfectly straight once fixed to the wall.
Attention was also given to the visual spacing between artworks where multiple pieces were installed within the same room. Maintaining consistent spacing helps preserve the clean visual flow of the interior while preventing the installation from feeling cluttered or uneven.
After the final pieces were mounted, alignment checks were completed to confirm every artwork was level and centred correctly within the space. The result was a seamless installation that complements the modern design of the Newstead residence.
The completed installation created a refined interior presentation where each artwork sits securely and precisely in place, allowing the scale and quality of the pieces to enhance the architecture of the home.
