Post Project Overview

Hang My Art was engaged to install a large personal artwork collection throughout a three storey residence in Annerley, Brisbane. The project included multiple gallery wall installations as well as several Aboriginal artworks that required careful placement to highlight their scale, colour, and cultural significance within the home.

The property featured multiple levels and large interior walls, providing ideal spaces for curated artwork displays. Rather than placing artworks individually around the home, the goal was to create cohesive gallery walls that would allow the collection to be experienced as a complete visual arrangement.

Many of the artworks were Aboriginal pieces with bold colour palettes and strong visual storytelling elements. These works naturally draw attention within a space, so careful planning was required to ensure they were positioned in a way that balanced the surrounding artworks while still allowing each piece to stand out.

Several gallery walls were created across the home, including feature walls in the main living areas and stairwell spaces where the vertical wall height allowed for dynamic artwork arrangements. Because the artworks varied in size and orientation, thoughtful layout planning was essential to achieve a balanced composition.

The three storey layout of the home also required coordination between multiple installation areas so the artwork presentation remained consistent throughout the property. Each wall installation needed to feel intentional within the overall design of the home.

By the end of the project the artworks were displayed in a way that complemented the architecture of the house while showcasing the client’s collection in a structured and visually engaging format.

Post Project Execution

Execution of the installation began with reviewing the full artwork collection and identifying the best locations for each gallery wall. Because the home had multiple levels, each installation area was assessed individually to determine the ideal height and spacing for the artworks.

Gallery walls require careful measurement and layout planning before installation begins. Reference lines were established to map out the arrangement so that the spacing between artworks remained consistent and visually balanced across the wall.

Each artwork was then installed using appropriate mounting hardware selected based on the wall surface and weight of the piece. Secure fixing systems were used to ensure every artwork remained safely supported while sitting perfectly level once installed.

Professional levelling tools were used during installation to ensure the artworks aligned correctly with one another. Even small alignment differences can become noticeable within gallery wall arrangements, so precision was maintained throughout the process.

Special attention was given to the Aboriginal artworks within the collection to ensure their placement allowed them to be viewed clearly while maintaining balance with the surrounding pieces. These artworks often act as strong focal points within a gallery wall, so their positioning was carefully considered within the layout.

Because installations were completed across multiple levels of the home, final alignment checks were performed in each area to ensure the presentation remained consistent throughout the property.

The completed installation created several cohesive gallery walls across the three storey residence, transforming the interior spaces and allowing the client’s artwork collection to be displayed in a refined and visually balanced way.
