Gallery wall and mirror installation in a high end Toowong apartment featuring a large personal artwork collection.
Hang My Art was engaged to install a large personal artwork collection inside a high end apartment in Toowong, Brisbane overlooking the Brisbane River. The client had accumulated a diverse range of artworks over time and wanted the pieces professionally arranged and installed to create gallery style feature walls throughout the home.
The apartment featured large open living areas and clean modern architecture which provided the perfect setting for a curated artwork display. Rather than placing individual pieces randomly throughout the space, the goal of the installation was to create cohesive gallery walls that allowed the artworks to work together visually.
Several rooms in the apartment were designed around these gallery walls, including the main living space where a large feature wall would display multiple artworks together in a balanced arrangement. In addition to the artwork collection, several large and heavy mirrors also needed to be mounted securely to complement the interior styling and enhance natural light within the apartment.
Because the artworks varied in size and orientation, careful planning was required to determine the correct layout before installation began. Achieving a gallery style display requires precise spacing and alignment so the collection appears curated rather than cluttered.
The mirrors presented an additional installation challenge due to their weight and size. Secure fixing methods were required to ensure the mirrors were safely supported while remaining perfectly level on the wall.
The final installation created a refined gallery inspired interior where the client’s personal collection became a central design feature of the apartment. The gallery walls added character and visual depth to the space while the mirrors helped reflect light and highlight the river views outside.
Execution of the installation began with reviewing the artwork collection and determining the best layout for each gallery wall. The goal was to create a balanced composition where each piece contributed to the overall display while maintaining consistent spacing across the wall.
Before any artworks were mounted, measurements were taken and layout guides were established on the wall to visualise the final arrangement. This step allowed adjustments to be made to the spacing and positioning so the gallery wall would feel natural within the proportions of the room.
Each artwork was then installed carefully using appropriate mounting hardware based on the wall material and the weight of the piece. Professional levelling equipment was used to ensure every frame sat perfectly straight while maintaining consistent alignment across the entire gallery wall.
Heavy mirrors were installed using secure anchoring systems designed to safely support their weight while keeping the mirrors perfectly level. Because mirrors often become strong visual focal points in a room, precise alignment was essential to ensure the finished installation looked clean and intentional.
Throughout the installation process attention was given to maintaining even spacing between artworks and ensuring the overall layout flowed naturally across the wall. Minor adjustments were made during installation to ensure the gallery walls looked balanced from multiple viewing angles within the apartment.
Once the artworks and mirrors were installed, final alignment checks were completed to confirm every piece sat level and securely fixed to the wall.
The completed installation transformed the apartment interior, creating elegant gallery style walls that showcase the client’s personal collection while complementing the modern design and river views of the Toowong residence.
