How to Plan a Gallery Wall Like a Designer

Gallery walls are one of the best ways to inject personality into a space, but successful ones are always carefully planned, not randomly thrown together.

Start with a theme. Whether that's matching frame colors, sticking to black and white photos, or mixing various styles in a cohesive palette.
Lay out your design on the floor before drilling. Play with different frame arrangements until you find a flow that feels balanced and intentional.

When spacing pieces, keep gaps between frames even, usually around 5–8cm. Anchor your gallery around a central piece placed at eye level and build outward symmetrically or organically depending on the vibe you're creating.

If you’re unsure where to begin, use painter's tape to mock out your frame shapes directly onto the wall. It’s easier to adjust spacing visually before committing to holes.

Professional art installers help clients create gallery walls that feel effortless, because behind the scenes, every placement is calculated.
